Bariumhydroxid

Was bedeutet Bariumhydroxid?

BaO + 9H2O = Ba(OH)2.8H2O

Bariumhydroxid kann auch als Baryt bekannt sein.

Faust erklärt Bariumhydroxid

For industrial usage, barium hydroxide is available in the form of monohydrate and octahydrade. Where the temperature is more than 500°C (932°F), barium hydroxide decomposes to barium oxide. When it comes in contact with carbon dioxide, it produces barium carbonate, which is aqueous in solution, highly alkaline and will undergo a neutralization reaction when in contact with acids. After a neutralization reaction with an acid, it forms barium sulfate and barium phosphate and thus is used to dehydrate and remove sulfate from various products.

Some physical properties of barium hydroxide:

  • Stabilität – Im Allgemeinen stabile Verbindung, reagiert jedoch bei Kontakt mit Kohlendioxid, Feuchtigkeit oder Säuren
  • Aussehen – Weiße transparente Kristalle
  • Spezifisches Gewicht – 2.18
  • Schmelzpunkt – 408 °C (766 °F)
  • Siedepunkt – 780 °C (1,436 °F)
  • pH-Wert – etwa 2
  • Dichte – 2.18 g/cm3
